The 1999 Season

Season VII

Update January 3, 2000

Final payouts are posted on the accounts receivable listing.

Update December 24, 1999

In arguably the best championship game in the history of the Tower Fantasy League, the CowHorn LongBoys, behind Randy Moss' 30 point output on Monday night, come from behind and defeat Shag-adelic 154 to 145. These two teams dominated the league this year and the point total in the championship game just confirms how powerful these teams were. Congratulations to both of you and especially the CowHorn LongBoys who make the most of their return to the playoffs. In the toilet bowl, Dynamic Duo won high team with 148 points while the Turd Burglars take low team with 90 total points. This is the same Turd Burglars team that won high team in the first week of the toilet bowl. I'll update the accounts receivable report after Christmas and then start hitting up folks for some cash. In the mean time, Merry Christmas everyone and thanks again for participating.

Update December 20, 1999

Sunday scoring is posted.

Update December 15, 1999

In the battle of division winners, Shag-adelic scores a big time 165 points to defeat Breaking Wind who scored a very low for them total of 102 points. The CowHorn LongBoys defeated 308 by a total of 124 to 97. Shag-adelic goes into the championship game favored by 7.5. Starr's Cigars won high team in the toilet bowl even though they didn't change their starting lineup for the bye week. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Pai-Gowed crushed the toilet bowl competition for worse team of the week with an amazing 65 points. This was sixteen points worse than the next team.

Sorry about being AWOL this week.. I was out of town for work all week and then in San Antonio Saturday (wasted trip). Breaking Wind and the CowHorn LongBoys have byes this week. Shag-adelic takes on the number three wild card team Anacondas while 308 goes head to head with Lawson's Men. Toilet bowl also starts this week.

Thursday/Sunday scoring is posted.

Update November 25, 1999

Preliminary starting lineups are posted.

Update November 23, 1999

Final scoring is posted. All prizes went to the Central Division this week. Lawson's Men had high score with 150 points and the Tasch Mash took high position with 72 points thanks to an overtime touchdown run (O. Gary 25, E. James 47). Week twelve will still have some playoff implications. The second place races are as follows: North - 308 clinches with a win, Hook-n-Slice must beat 308 by 95 points to force a tiebreaker; Central - Lawson's Men clinches with a win, Against the Odds has tiebreaker advantage over Lawson's Men, Lawson's Men have tiebreaker advantage over Spinn; South - Anacondas clinch with a win as they have tiebreaker advantage over Starr's Cigars, Anacondas also clinch with a loss and a Starr's Cigars loss as they have tiebreaker advantage over Starr's Cigars, Hoosiers, and Pai-Gowed, Starr's Cigars go with a win and an Anaconda's loss.

Update November 22, 1999

The company that delivers the statistics is having server problems so the scoring is not updated. I have updated the starting lineups.

Update November 16, 1999

Final scores are posted. Who Cares had the high team with 147 points and the Tasch Mash had high position with 56 points (R. Gannon 30, S. Christie 26). Division champions have been determined in all leagues (Breaking Wind, Shag-adelic, CowHorn LongBoys). This is the earliest I can remember all division champs being set. Over the next two weeks the real battles will be for that second spot. In the North, 308, Hook-n-Slice, and Dynamic Duo are still in the race. The Central is wide open with 3 team at 5-5 and two teams at 3-7 still alive. In the South, there are three teams (Anacondas, Starr's Cigars, and Hoosiers) that still have playoff hopes.

Update November 15, 1999

Sunday scoring is posted.

Update November 14, 1999

Rosters are posted as well as the roster transaction reports and the accounts receivable detail. There may be some change to the starting lineups as I haven't check all voice mail/e-mail locations yet.

Update November 9, 1999

Final rosters and scoring is posted. High team honors went to Hook-n-Slice with a season high 176 points. High position went to Anacondas with 48 points (T. Martin 21, J. Smith 19, M. Westbrook 8). Two teams clinched playoff spots (Shag-adelic and CowHorn LongBoys). A few teams were eliminated. 308 beat Who Cares in the first tie game this year (308's reserves won 8 to 1).

Update November 8, 1999

I just got back into town last night and have not updated the starting lineups. I have posted Sunday scoring but all lineups are from last week.

Update November 2, 1999

Final scoring is posted. Spice Boys took high team honors with 153 points. Against the Odds took high position with 56 points (S. Davis 39, R. Williams 17). No real changes in the standings. First place teams continue to hold their large leads and everyone else is bunched up for the wild card spots.

Update November 1, 1999

Sunday scoring is posted and the accounts receivable detail is updated.

Update October 31, 1999

Preliminary starting lineups posted. I hope to have final lineups posted later this afternoon.

Update October 26, 1999

Final scoring is posted. Shag-adelic was high team with 144 points. Turd Burglars won high position with 55 points (B. Johnson 30; O. Mare 25). The division leads still have their two game leads with five games left in the regular season. The battles are shaping up to be for second place. At this point no teams have been eliminated from the playoff hunt. The A/R listing is updated.

Update October 25, 1999

Sunday scoring is posted.

Update October 23, 1999

Final starting rosters are posted. The roster transaction reports are also updated. High team in week six was the CowHorn LongBoys with 137 points. High position went to Breaking Wind with 42 points (M. Harrison 4, R. Ismail 7, E. McCaffrey 31). Breaking Wind is now two for two when receivers are the position of the week. They barely beat out 308 who scored one point with its three receivers (who all played). At the half way point of the season, we have one undefeated team (Breaking Wind) and one team who hasn't won a game (The Penetrators). The leaders in the South and Central both have two game leads. Ten teams in those divisions are within one game of second place. The league average is 10-2 in the South and Central and 1-5 in the North. The magic number for all division leaders is five.

Update October 20, 1999

Final rosters and scoring for week six is posted. I've been behind on updates but here are the weekly winners from week four and five. In week four, Who Cares got high team with 149 points and the Anacondas won high position with 63 points (B. Johnson 49, M. Hollis 14). In week five, 308 swept both honors with high team points of 156 (highest this year) and position with 34 points (C. Collins 26, E. James 8). The accounts receivable detail is updated accordingly.

Update October 19, 1999

I was out of town today so I didn't update the final rosters. I have updated for Monday's scoring. I've also updated the transactions report through Saturday and have updated the accounts receivable report for the trades. I will update the weekly payoffs and have final rosters tomorrow.

Update October 18, 1999

Sunday scoring posted. I've added a new report which shows the top forty players at each position.

Update October 17, 1999

Preliminary lineups are posted. I will have final lineups posted Monday night.

Update October 13, 1999

Final scoring is posted.

Update October 11, 1999

Sunday scoring is posted. As a reminder, I have not updated rosters for late changes. I will have those reflected in tomorrow's reports.

Update October 8, 1999

Preliminary lineups posted. Thanks everyone for getting a roster to me by Friday.

Update October 5, 1999

Final scoring may or may not be posted. The software just went through an upgrade and there is apparently a delay in when I send the reports to the website and when they get posted. Keep checking periodically for reports dated this morning.

Update October 4, 1999

Sunday scoring is posted. Due to depression from six turnover I did not check on roster changes over the weekend and therefore will not be reflected in the reports. I will make those changes tonight. Does this mean that North Texas is better than A&M?

Update October 2, 1999

Preliminary starting lineups are posted. Weekly winners for week three were Lawson's Men for high team with 127 points. Breaking Wind had the best starting trio of wide receivers with 38 points (M. Harrison 29, K. Johnson 2, E. McCaffrey 7).

Update September 29, 1999

Final scoring is posted.

Update September 28, 1999

U.S. comes back and wins the Ryder Cup, UT shutouts Baylor, Electra wins its game and the Rangers clinch the division title. If only 308 would have won, it would have been a perfect sports weekend. Due to network problems with our fantasy statistics provider, final scoring couldn't be posted this morning. Check back again tomorrow morning.

Update September 27, 1999

Sunday scoring is posted.

Update September 26, 1999

Final lineups are posted (Pre-Game Starting Players report) as are roster moves and the accounts receivable balances.

Update September 23, 1999

Preliminary starting lineups are posted. I'll have final rosters Sunday. Both high team and high position resulted in ties in week 2. 308 and Starr's Cigars tied for high team honors with 117 points. Dynamic Duo and Against the Odds both had the tandem of Stephen Davis (33) and Terrell Davis (12) for high running backs. Through two weeks almost one third of the league has already won a portion of their money back. For the second straight week, the NFL player earning the highest point total was not on anyone's roster. Seven of the twenty-one teams are undefeated with four of those in the North. There are also seven teams who have not won a game. The Turd Burglars still lead the league in fewest points scored.

Update September 21, 1999

Final scoring is posted.

Update September 20, 1999

Sunday scoring is posted.

Update September 19, 1999

Final starting rosters are posted.

Update September 18, 1999

Starting lineups and roster transactions through Friday have been posted. High team in week one was the Anacondas with 148 points. They barely beat Shag-adelic and the CowHorn LongBoys who both had 146 points. Spinn won high position with 63 points (Bledsoe 28, Hollis 35). Sparky's Oilers could of had 77 points if they had played their bench warmers. They also would have beat my team if they had started either one. Obviously Clinton should consider having the folks who drafted for him also select his starting lineup. The league average went two and one with one of those wins over the Turd Burglars. The Turn Burglars scored 46 points which has to be close to a record for lowest points in a game. Definitely for the first game of the season. I've also added the accounts receivable detail report below so you can see how much you owe or have coming back. I haven't posted the recent payments yet.

Update September 14, 1999

Final scoring is posted. I'll have some analysis later in the week.

Update September 13, 1999

I'm still trying to recover from New York (why couldn't the Longhorns score one more touchdown) and will be leaving for Tyler for two or three days. Reports are posted with Sunday's statistics. I hope to post final reports Tuesday morning. If not, it will be Wednesday or Thursday night.

Update September 2, 1999

South division reports are now available. First lineups are due Thursday. Please e-mail them to me.

Update August 29, 1999

The drafts are completed and of course there was a phone hitch. It happens every year. We just need all the teams in Vegas and then a phone isn't necessary. I've got preliminary reports for the North and Central divisions (see links below). I'm hoping Salas hasn't lost the information for the South. I have finalized the rules for the year. No changes to what was already posted other than editing.

Update July 24, 1999

Finally back to my real job -- commissioner. The seventh season dawns and I know two certainties after these previous six years. Las Vegas will be a little richer and Graf will be involved in a controversy. The year that I don't have a rules crisis is the year I give up as commissioner (don't expect that to be any time soon). The league just gets bigger and better each year. I expect to have a Tower Fantasy Football League IPO anytime now. I just need to put a .com in there someplace. Most of the pages are updated though it may just be the dates. I will be contacting everyone to determine which teams are returning and the possibility of expansion. I want to expand (or implode) to avoid bye weeks. More on that later. Hope everyone is saving their money for Vegas.
