Both teams had Adrian Peterson and their quarterbacks were essentially a tie. It came down to the receiving corps and Obama Been Fondlin had the better day. Their receivers totaled 40 points to Coast’s 7. That was the difference in a 141 to 110 victory for Obama Been Fondlin. OBF was the third place team. This is the second league title for OBF as they won in 1995 under the name Zebra’s. Congrats, Jon, on the title.

The North division swept all the playoff games as OBF won the championship, Sparky’s Oilers took consolation with a 101 to 65 victory over the Penetrators, and the Wonderlickers won their second wild card loser’s match by an identical score of 110 to 102.

In the toilet bowl, we had a third different winner of the high team honors with I Bet She’s Wet scoring 114 points while on the loser’s side, Cleveland Steamers completed their three week sweep scoring an unusually high 83 points but still good enough for low team.

Thanks everyone again for participating and have a happy holidays!

December 11, 2012

The finals are set and we have one division champion (Coast) and one third place team (Obama Been Fondlin). Coast coasted to the semi-final win beating the Penetrators 155 to 76. OBF ruined Sparky’s Oiler’s run with a 112 to 80 victory. Both teams are competing for their first championship. Schultz Malt Liquor Bulls took the high team honors in the toilet bowl with 125 points while Cleveland Steamers continued their dominance of the low team honors with 51 points. Lastly, the Wonderlickers defeated Flying Elvi 110 to 102 in the battle of the wild card losers.

December 5, 2012

The wildcard games weren't particularly close. The Penetrators defeated Flying Elvi 113 to 80 while Obama Been Fondlin defeated teh Wonderlickers 127 to 108. The toilet bowl was a little more competitive or at least half of it. It just happened that Ditka for President and Fi Card Charlee were paired up but they ended up scoring the best scores of the week. Ditka for President took the high team honors by three points scoring 110 points. In the loser's bracket, Cleveland Steamers parlayed a number of injuries to almost guarantee a three week run at the bottom. This week they totaled 40 total points to easily score the least amount of points.

November 27, 2012

Final regular season weekly awards were won by repeat winners. Flying Elvi picked up their second weekly prize taking high team honors with 157 points. Obama Been Fondlin won their third weekly award taking the high position honors. The receiver combination of Vincent Jackson (9), Dez Bryant (34), Randall Cobb (4), and TE Tony Gonzalez (6) tallied a total of 53 points.

Both division leaders maintained their top spots and received a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Sparky’s Oilers had already clinched the top spot and finished with the best record in the league despite losing their final game of the regular season. Coast won their final game to keep their one game lead and division title. In the North, Ditka for President lost their final game which moved them from a tie for second to a tie for third where they lost the tiebreaker with Obama Been Fondlin. As such, the Wonderlickers finished in second and Obama takes the third place spot and makes the playoffs. In the South, Flying Elvi won their fifth straight to finish in a tie with the Penetrators for second place. Both teams make the playoffs. A special shout out to the Masters who finish with a two game winning streak and moved from being alone in last place to a three way tie with Cleveland Steamers and Schultz Malt Liquor Bulls all finishing with three wins. That’s the most wins by a last place team since 2008 when three teams finished in last with four wins.

In the NFL Picks contest, the Wonderlickers finished in first place by two games over Obama Been Fondlin.

November 20, 2012

After three straight weeks, we got a new high team winner. The Penetrators easily won high team honors scoring 176 points for their first weekly prize. Though the Wonderlickers didn’t win their fourth consecutive high team honor, they did win their second consecutive high position honor. It was a low scoring week for running backs as C.J. Spiller (12) and Doug Martin (15) combined for 27 points. This was the lowest position score of the year by 15 points. With the Penetrators weekly win, 11 of the 16 teams have won a weekly prize.

Going into the final week, one team has clinched a playoff spot. Sparky’s Oilers (yes, Sparky’s Oilers) has clinched the North division. They currently have the best record in the entire league by two games. Four teams are battling for two spots in the North and seven teams are battling for three spots in the South. Congratulations to the Masters for winning their second game of the year (and keeping 308’s playoff chances alive). Just don’t make it two in a row.

November 17, 2012

Has there been a hotter team? The Wonderlickers win their fourth consecutive game (longest current streak of any team), their third consecutive high team honors and take high position to boot. The Wonderlickers scored 150 points to narrowly defeat Obama Been Fondlin (who they happened to be playing). They were the lone team to start QB Joe Flacco (38 points) and along with K Matt Bryant (9) scored a total of 47 points to win the high position honors for the week.

That win streak puts them alone in second place behind Sparky’s Oilers in the North. Sparky’s has a three game streak themselves. There is a three way tie for third one game behind the Wonderlickers and those teams will jockey for the playoff spots over the next two weeks. In the South, Coast bounced back with a win this week and it allowed them to take a two game lead over second place. There is currently a six team tie for second place. I guess that’s parity.

Special shout out to the Masters who have a current seven game losing streak and the only team with just one win. In fact the next worst teams have three wins. That’s what happens when you play a golf tournament during the draft.

November 11, 2012

Week 9 was an unusual week. Both the team (The Wonderlickers) and the position (Sparky’s Oilers) prizes were won by the same teams as in week 8. I don’t remember a double duplicate like that before. The Wonderlickers exploded with 228 points. They were led by RB Doug Martin who scored 88 points. He alone would have defeated six teams. North leading Sparky’s Oilers tallied 68 points using the combination of WR Reggie Wayne (9), WR Brandon Marshall (29), WR A.J. Green (14), and TE Owen Daniels (16). Sparky’s Oilers maintains a one game lead over three other teams with one team one game behind them. In the South, both 1st place Coast and 2nd place Penetrators lost. Coast still has a one game lead but it’s now over three teams with three more teams one game back and last place Schultz Malt Liquor Bulls not out of it yet either.

November 3, 2012

In a fairly low scoring week, it was the Wonderlickers who took high team honors with 124 points barely beating out Flying Elvi by 6 points. The Wonderlickers won high team honors despite getting zero points from RB Jamaal Charles. Sparky’s Oilers used the RB tandem of Matt Forte (19) and Trent Richardson (32) to score a total of 51 points and win high position honors. Sparky’s Oilers must be living right. They won high position in a week when they had five starters on bye weeks. They were lucky enough to be playing the team who scored the fewest points in the league for the week – The Masters – and come out with the win. I can’t remember a team winning a game while only scoring points from five players (and won by 32 points). With the win, Sparky’s Oiler maintains their 1st place standing in the North. There are four teams one game back. In the South, Coast maintains their 1st place lead with the Penetrators one game back. Every team is at least within two games of second place so it is wide open in the South.

October 25, 2012

The weekly honors went to first time winners. Fi Card Charlee scored 146 points to easily take the high team honors. For the first time this year, Obama Been Fondlin didn’t win the QB/K high position honor. I Bet She’s Wet scored a total of 54 points with QB Drew Brees (41) and ex-UT kicker Justin Tucker (13). Nine teams have now won weekly honors which means seven of us haven’t won anything yet.

Sparky’s Oilers has now lost two consecutive weeks and is now in a tie for first place with Obama Been Fondlin in the North. Three teams are one game back of them. In the South, Coast lost but still has a one game lead over three teams with another three teams one game back of them.

October 21, 2012

I’ve gotten way behind so I’m sending out a two week update (weeks 5 and 6).
Week 5 high team was a blowout as Sparky’s Oilers easily won with 147 points. The CowHorn LongBoys took the high position honors for the second time with 42 points using the RB tandem of Reggie Bush (16) and Arian Foster (26). The CowHorn LongBoys also won when it RB week using Bush and C.J. Spiller.

Week 6 was a little closer for high team as Bevo’s Revenge won with 139 points just two better than Coast. High position was a different matter. Bevo’s Revenge easily won with 76 points and they only used three of their four receivers. Wes Welker (25), Jordy Nelson (33), and Antonio Gates (18) scored all the points while Brian Hartline got a goose egg. Bevo’s Revenge still beat the next best group by at least 20 points.

This was also Bevo’s first win of the year which means that every team now has a win. Also in week 6, Sparky’s Oilers lost for the first time which means every team now has a loss as well. Sparky’s Oilers and Coast sit on top of their respective divisions with one game leads.

October 7, 2012

Week four was a high scoring week with all but three teams scoring in triple digits. There were two teams at 150 points but Schultz Malt Liquor Bulls took high team honors with 158 points. On the position side, this was the second week using a QB/K combination and for the second time Obama Been Fondlin had the highest points. In week one, OBF used Romo but this time OBF scored 53 points with the combination of QB Matt Ryan (46) and K Sebastian Janikowski (7).

We’re down to one undefeated team but I think there must be a problem with the website. Sparky’s Oilers is the lone 4 and 0 team in the league. There are pigs flying somewhere. On the opposite of the standings, there were three winless teams going into the week and two of them came out with wins. That leaves Bevo’s Revenge as the lone winless team – also a head scratcher.

October 1, 2012

Trying to get this update out before week four is over. For the second week in a row, one team swept the weekly honors. The Masters easily won both honors scoring 149 team points and 57 receiver points. Andre Johnson (22) and Nate Washington (26) led the way with Demaryius Thomas (3) and Jermichael Finley (6) wrapping it up. Undefeated teams were cut in half with all of them located in the North. That's also where all of the winless teams reside as well (3). In the South, one game separated all of the teams.

September 18, 2012

It wasn't a bounce back week as only two teams who lost in week one were able to come back with a victory in week two. That means there are six undefeated teams and six without a win. In the North every team is either undefeated or winless. CowHorn LongBoys easily won high team honors with 172 points. They also easily took high position honors scoring 90 points with the RB tandem of Reggie Bush (54) and C.J. Spiller (36).

September 12, 2012

Everyone had a shot at Romo since their game was done before the drafts. It was a good move (at least for one week) since he was involved in both the high team and high position. Flying Elvi took high team honors with 160 points and Obama Been Fondlin barely took high position with a total of 48 points using QB Tony Romo (40) and K Sebastian Janikowski (8).
