Bevo’s Revenge, in their 8th playoff appearance, won their second championship defeating the Penetrators 113 to 84. Bevo’s Revenge also won in 2005. The Penetrators have still not won a championship even though they have the most playoff appearances of any team (9). This marks their fourth second place finish. (One caveat – I can’t find records for 1993 and 1995 – our first and third seasons).

Fi Card Charlee won consolation for the second time in three years defeating the Cleveland Steamers 117 to 90. Coast won the Wild Card losers match for the second week in a row 119 to 87. This season is the fourth in a row to make the playoffs by Coast – the longest current streak of any team.

In the toilet bowl, Obama Been Fondlin won high team honors with 152 points and Schultz Malt Liquor Bulls took the low team honors with 107 total points. The toilet bowl had six different winners during the playoffs.

Thanks everyone for participating once again. I’ve now posted some historical reports if you are interested.

December 13, 2011

The finals are set with South Division champion the Penetrators taking on second place North Division Bevo’s Revenge. The Penetrators won a fairly close game against Fi Card Charlee 122 to 105. Bevo’s Revenge had a huge day scoring 169 points to blow out the Cleveland Steamers (116 points). In the toilet bowl, the CowHorn LongBoys and Flying Elvi tied with 152 points for high team honors. Sparky’s Oilers finally found their normal position and won low team honors with 109 points. Coast defeated Ditka for President in the wild card loser matchup.

December 6, 2011

Wild card playoff games finished with both second place teams winning. Fi Card Charlee defeated Coast 148 to 133 and will now face the Penetrators in a semi-final game. Bevo’s Revenge defeated Ditka for President 107 to 96 and will face the Cleveland Steamers in the other semi-final game. The Cleveland Steamers are the only team to make it to the semi-finals the last two years and are the defending champion. The Wonderlickers had the highest score of any team the whole season with 186 points to take high team honors in the toilet bowl. Two teams scored in the 60s with their starters but had strong reserves and couldn’t win low team honors. CowHorn LongBoys scored 81 points with their starters but combined to score only 104 points with their reserves and take low team honors.

November 29, 2011

Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy swept the final weekly honors. They scored 132 points for high team honors and used the receiver corps of Steve Smith (6), Wes Welker (25), Victor Cruz (32), and Jermichael Finley (3) to total 66 points and win the high position honor. The win put them into a three way tie for second place in the South but they were the odd man out with the tie-breaker. Fi Card Charlee and Coast made the playoffs while the Penetrators rode a five game winning streak to the division title. Obama Been Fondlin also had a five game winning streak to end the season which was enough to tie them for third place but they also lost out on the tiebreaker. Ditka for President took the third spot in the North as a result. Cleveland Steamers lost to end up in a tie with Bevo’s Revenge but won the tiebreaker to take the division title. Worst record and longest losing streak belonged to I Bet She’s Wet who started 2-1 but finished with 9 consecutive losses. Obama Been Fondlin did win the NFL Picks contest by one win over Cleveland Steamers and Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy who tied for second.

November 25, 2011

Bevo’s Revenge swept the weekly honors marking the third time one team has swept. Bevo’s Revenge scored 138 points to narrowly beat out Schultz Malt Liquor Bulls. The high position score wasn’t very close. Running backs Michael Turner (14) and LeGarrette Blount (29) combined for 43 points. The playoff situation is still wide open with five teams in the North battling for playoff spots and six teams in the South still eligible. Just a reminder, how the website reflects the teams is how the playoff teams are determined.

November 15, 2011

It was a week for second time winners. Both weekly winners scored their second weekly prizes of the season. Bevo's Revenge took high team honors with 142 points while Coast used the QB/K tandem of Tony Romo (37) and David Akers(18) to score 55 points. With two weeks left in the season, there are only two teams mathematically eliminated and that's 308 and I Bet She's Wet. Also with two weeks left, no one has clinched a playoff spot. Not sure I remember that happening before.

November 13, 2011

Ditka for President continued a very successful season by sweeping the weekly honors. They took the high team honors with 140 points. They used the receivers corps of Wes Welker (14), DeSean Jackson (2), Julio Jones (46) and Vernon Davis (4) to total 66 points. Ditka has now won five weekly prizes two more than the next best team. The playoff situation is still pretty wide open with seven teams still looking at a playoff spot in the North and six teams in the South.

It always stinks when you have the third highest score for the week but end up playing the team that scores the highest. That was the case this week when Schultz Malt Liquor Bulls scored 125 points but ended up on the losing end against Flying Elvi who scored 134 points and took the high team honors. Obama Been Fondlin took the high position honors scoring 50 points with the RB tandem of Frank Gore (17) and LeSean McCoy (33). With four games left, no one is officially eliminated but they might as well be. Cleveland Steamers stand alone in first place in the North with only two losses. Two teams are a game behind and two more are two games behind. In the South, there is a three way tie for first with three more team only one game behind.

October 30, 2011

Sorry for the delay. It’s a two week summary this go around.

Week six was a week for blowouts as six of the eight games were decided by more than 20 points. Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy won the biggest blowout defeating Flying Elvi by 54 points. Pimpin’ scored 134 points to take the high team honors. Sparky’s Oilers had the lowest point total of the season (at that time) with 57 points. Chad Ochocinco led the Bevo’s Revenge receiving corps to the high position honor. He scored 0 points but the other receivers – Marques Colston (21), Jordy Nelson (25), and Jermichael Finley (2) – combined for 48 points and that was enough to take the prize. Hard to win a weekly position prize when one of your players scores zero points – especially a wide receiver.

Week seven was a weird week. I lost interest as 308 was defeated by Sparky’s Oilers (see above) by 66 points. I stated above that week six was a week for blowouts. The average margin of victory last week was 51 points. Bevo’s Revenge defeated Obama Been Fondlin by 97 points. Cleveland Steamers easily won the high team honors scoring 175 points and defeating the Masters by 116 points. Sparky’s Oilers low week record didn’t last long as Obama Been Fondlin only scored 28 points. This may be one of the worst weeks ever for a legit team. The tight end and head coach had bye weeks but not usually big points. The only other player who didn’t score was RB Marshawn Lynch who got hurt in the warm-ups. Everyone else scored (average 4 points per player). Ditka for President won the high position prize for the second time with same combination of Aaron Rodgers (32) and Matt Bryant (14) scoring a total of 46 points. Another interest fact. Of the eight teams that won, only one (Cleveland Steamers) got points from every player. Four teams had two or more players not score. The CowHorn LongBoys won without a point from their quarterback. Coast won and had four players not score and two other players score one point each. Essentially, they won with four players. Their opponent, the Penetrators, had every player score but eight of the ten scored six points or less (four scored 1 or 2 points).

October 16, 2011

After five games, there are no undefeated teams and only one, Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy(?), with just one loss. On the other side of the standings, there are only two teams with just one loss – the Masters and CowHorn LongBoys. That means one game separates 7 teams in the North and two games separate 7 teams in the South. It was also an incredibly close week for high team honors. There were six teams that scored in the range of 132 to 138 points. Two teams scored 137 points but the Wonderlickers and Flying Elvi both scored 138 points to tie for high team honors. You needed Adrian Peterson on your roster to take high position honors. Coast had Peterson (42 points) as well as Maurice Jones-Drew (15) to score a total of 57 points and take the high position honors for running backs. Half the teams in the league have now won a weekly prize.

October 4, 2011

Happy to announce that every team now has a win. 308 finally won a game. After four weeks, there are four teams with only one loss and four teams win only one win. High team was won by Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy with 180 points. That’s highest score so far this season. High position was going to go to a team with Aaron Rodgers who scored an amazing 63 points. Ditka for President had a better kicker than Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy and took high position honors. The combination of QB Aaron Rodgers (63) and kicker Matt Bryant (19) scored a total of 82 points. This was also easily the highest score of the season.

September 29, 2011

To start the week, there were three undefeated teams and three team without a win. After the week was over, every team had a loss and every team had a least one win – with one exception – 308 who is now the only winless team in the league. I also lost in the first week of my suicide pool. As such, I’ve really lost interest in the NFL but there is always next week. Given the win-loss situation, it means that every team (except 308) is in a tie for first or one game behind.  The Cleveland Steamers easily took the high team honors with 153 points that beat the next best team by 33 points. They completed the sweep with the receivers tandem of Larry Fitzgerald (11), Roddy White (14), Mike Wallace (29), and Dustin Keller (8) scoring a total of 62 points for high position.

September 20, 2011

Scoring was up in week two as eight teams scored more points than last week’s high team. That also meant there were fewer close games as only three games were decided by 10 points or less. The closest was a tie between 308 and Cleveland Steamers at 141 points each with Cleveland Steamers winning the tiebreaker. That left 308 as one of only three teams that don’t have a win after two weeks (Flying Elvi and Sparky’s Oiler [surprise!] are the other two). On the upper end of the spectrum, there are only three teams who are undefeated – Obama Been Fondlin, Bevo’s Revenge, and Fi Card Charlee.

Of all the high scoring teams this week, Obama Been Fondlin was by far the highest scoring 175 points. The Masters took the high position honors scoring 45 points with the RB tandem of Darren McFadden (26) and Ray Rice (19).

September 13, 2011

After the first week, it looks like the teams are pretty even. The largest margin of victory was 15 points and one game was decided by 4 points and two games were decided by 1 point (sorry Sparky’s Oilers and Penetrators). Three teams scored over 130 points and two of them played each other (sorry Masters). The winner of that game, Ditka for President, scored 137 points to win high team honors by two points over Fi Card Charlee. New team, the Wonderlickers, took high position honors with the combination of QB Tom Brady (44) and K Mason Crosby (6) for a total of 50 points.
