Your 2014 Tower Fantasy Football League champions are the
Cleveland Steamers. One hour before the Sunday games kicked off, they dropped
Julio Jones who had been declared out for the week and picked up Odell Beckham
Jr. Beckham scores 31 points and Cleveland Steamers defeats the CowHorn LongBoys
109 to 88. This is the third championship for Cleveland Steamers who is now tied
with the CowHorn LongBoys for most championships. Amazingly, Cleveland Steamers
have only made the playoffs five times which means they are pretty good at
running the table when they get the chance. Congratulations to Cleveland
Steamers on a great season.
In the consolation game, Bevo’s Revenge defeated Coast 106
to 103. In the wild card game, Flying Elvi won for the second week in a row
defeating Sparky’s Oilers 88 to 62. In the toilet bowl, Westside Bounty Hunters
took high team honors scoring 113 points while Obama Been Fondlin had a bad
enough bench to win their second low team honor scoring a total of 85 points.
Proving it isn’t easy to be the new team, # YESSIR finished the season as the
only team to not win a weekly prize. Maybe next year. 308 peaked week 1 but we
were in first for a little bit.
Thanks again everyone for participating. Have a great
holiday season.
December 9, 2014
Not a good week for the division champs as both got blown
out in the semi-finals. 2nd place Cleveland Steamers defeated North champion
Bevo’s Revenge 171 to 93. 3rd place CowHorn LongBoys defeated South champion
Coast 155 to 88. The CowHorn LongBoys own the most championships of any team (3)
while Cleveland Steamers is one behind with 2. Good luck to those teams in the
finals. Carlos Danger scored 161 points to narrowly take high team over the
Wonderlickers (158). The Penetrators pulled off the upset for low team honors
racking up a grand total of 95 points. In the wild card consolation match,
Flying Elvi defeated Sparky’s Oilers 132 to 92.
December 2, 2014
One wild-card game was close and the other was a blowout.
Cleveland Steamers won the blowout beating Sparky’s Oilers 179 to 97. The South
wild-card was a close game with CowHorn LongBoys narrowly defeating Flying Elvi
137 to 133. When your QB scores 70 points, you expect to win the game but it
wasn’t enough for Flying Elvi. We had a tie for high team with the Penetrators
and the Wonderlickers both scoring 143 points. Low team was easily won by Obama
Been Fondlin whose total score of 59 was less than every other team’s starters.
November 26, 2014
Flying Elvi finishes the season with a league high four
game winning streak, makes the playoffs and wins high team honors in a must win
game. They scored 142 points to narrowly win high team (Westside Bounty Hunters
scored 138 points). Cleveland Steamers must have a good receivers corps. There
have been four weekly prizes for receivers and Cleveland Steamers has won three
of them. And for the second consecutive time, the tight end didn’t contribute.
Cleveland Steamers scored 53 points with the receivers group of A.J. Green (12),
Julio Jones (13), T Y Hilton (28), and Greg Olsen (0). In the North, Bevo’s
Revenge and Cleveland Steamers both won to tie for best record in the league but
Bevo’s Revenge won the tiebreaker and the division crown. Sparky’s Oilers won
the showdown against the Wonderlickers and also the tiebreaker with the
Wonderlickers to take the final playoff spot in the North. Coast lost their last
game of the year against Westside Bounty Hunters and it created a three way tie
for first with Flying Elvi and CowHorn LongBoys. Coast still managed to win the
division based on the tiebreaker. Hoosier Daddy easily took worst team honors
managing only one win all season. The last season with a one win team was 2010
when Sparky’s Oilers and I Bet She’s Wet both only managed one win. There was a
swap from last year in the NFL Picks contest. 308 won last year and Obama Been
Fondlin tied for second. This year Obama Been Fondlin won pretty easily while
308 and Hoosier Daddy tied for second.
November 18, 2014
Not In My Chop House won for the second week in a row. This
week they took high team honors with 146 points. Not winning high position
honors was Sparky’s Oilers whose running back tandem tallied 0 points this week
(their reserve RB also scored 0 points). The CowHorn LongBoys did have running
backs score points – enough to win their first weekly prize. The RB tandem of
Le’Veon Bell (28) and Jeremy Hill (16) totaled 44 points for the win. In the
North, Cleveland Steamers lost their second game in a row and are now tied with
Bevo’s Revenge for first. They are both guaranteed a playoff spot while the
Wonderlickers and Sparky’s Oilers battle each other this week for the last
playoff spot with the winner in and the loser out. In the South, Coast has a one
game lead and has clinched a playoff spot. There are five team within one game
of each other so lots of playoff possibilities going into the final week.
November 11, 2014
Who needs a kicker? Not in My Chop House’s kicker had a bye
week but it didn’t matter as they were still able to win the high position honor
with Aaron Rodgers’ 63 points. CowHorn LongBoys went with Roethlisberger instead
of Rodgers. High team went to the Wonderlickers who had five players score more
than 20 points. Both teams are first time weekly prize winners which means only
four teams haven’t won a weekly prize - # YESSIR, CowHorn LongBoys, Hoosier
Daddy, and the Penetrators.
In the North, the top two teams both lost to provide a
little bit of drama going into the final two weeks of the regular season.
Cleveland Steamers and Bevo’s Revenge play each other this week with the winner
in the driver’s seat for the division crown. There are four other teams with a
mathematical chance to make the playoffs. In the South, Coast now has a one game
lead but there are five other teams with a shot to make the playoffs.
November 9, 2014
It was a low scoring weekend which worked out for 308 who
won high team honors with 130 points narrowly beating Cleveland Steamers who
scored 127. I Bet She’s Wet took the high position honors with the receiver
quartet of Jeremy Maclin (32), Dez Bryant (3), Antonio Brown (29), and, I guess,
Zach Ertz (0). The four (three) receivers combined for 64 points. This was I Bet
She’s Wet’s first weekly win. 10 of 16 teams have now won a weekly prize. With
three weeks left, Cleveland Steamers and Bevo’s Revenge are battling for the
North Division crown with four teams going after the final playoff spot. In the
South, it is wide open with three teams currently tied for first and three other
teams within two games.
November 1, 2014
You score 182 points and you expect to win high team honors
but that wasn’t enough for Carlos Danger in week 8. Bevo’s Revenge scores 190
points to win the week. This is Bevo’s Revenge third weekly high team honor this
season. Carlos Danger did easily win the high position honors with the RB combo
of Jamal Charles (33) and Arian Foster (42) whose combined 75 points is the
highest winning point total of the season so far. Carlos Danger also has sole
position of 1st place in the South with five teams one or two games
back. In the North, there were no changes at the top but only four teams appear
to be in the playoff race. The big news of the week was that Hoosier Daddy
finally won their first game of the year. That knocked Coast out of a tie for
first place.
October 26, 2014
It was a very competitive week as six teams finished within
9 points of each other for high team honors. Carlos Danger eked out the win with
129 points (which is the lowest winning point total so far this year). You had
to have Russell Wilson to have a chance at high position. Both 308 and Westside
Bounty Hunters started Wilson and ended up tied for the weekly prize scoring 51
points. Wilson scored 42 points while kickers Steven Hauschka and Mason Crosby
scored 9 each. This was the first weekly prize for Carlos Danger which means 9 of the 16 teams have won a weekly prize. In the
North, Cleveland Steamers now sits in first place by themselves while five teams
battle for the last two playoff spots. In the South, seven teams are still in
the running while Hoosier Daddy remains the lone winless team.
October 14, 2014
Coast didn’t score 200 points in week 6 but they did score
enough (151 points) to win their second consecutive high team honor. They almost
swept the weekly awards but lost by one point to Cleveland Steamers for high
position. Cleveland Steamers won their second receivers position honor scoring
63 points with the combination of WRs Michael Crabtree (14), Julio Jones (6), T
Y Hilton (32), and TE Greg Olsen (11). At the halfway point, Bevo’s Revenge and
Cleveland Steamers are tied for first in the North with a two game lead over
three other teams. In the South, you have six teams within one game of first.
Hoosier Daddy remains winless falling to first place Carlos Danger by one point.
October 9, 2014
All the weekly winners came from one game. Coast had a big
week easily taking the high team honors with 201 points. The last team to score
over 200 points was the Wonderlickers back in 2012. Coast’s opponent was
Westside Bounty Hunters who had the high RB duo. The combination of Marshawn
Lynch (13) and Eddie Lacy (32) scored a total of 45 points which was one point
better than Carlos Danger. # YESSIR got their first win of the season leaving
Hoosier Daddy as the lone team without a win. Standings are still pretty tight
especially in the South where six teams are currently tied for first.
September 30, 2014
The weekly prizes were very close this week. Bevo’s Revenge
won high team for the second week in a row scoring 139 points for the second
week in a row. This was one point better than Flying Elvi. Sparky’s Oilers took
high position honors scoring 65 points with the combination of QB Phillip Rivers
(46) and K Phil Dawson (19). This was two points better than the Penetrators. We
ended week four with no more undefeated teams as the Wonderlickers, Cleveland
Steamers, and Westside Bounty Hunters all lost for the first time. Hoosier Daddy
and # YESSIR both remain winless.
September 23, 2014
Bevo’s Revenge was your high team in week 3 with 139
points. Cleveland Steamers took high position scoring 66 points with WRs Michael
Crabtree (10), A.J. Green (10), Julio Jones (30) and TE Greg Olsen (16). We lost
one of the four undefeated teams during week 3 (Coast). That leaves Cleveland
Steamers and the Wonderlickers in the North and Westside Bounty Hunters in the
South. Two teams got their first win – Sparky’s Oilers and Carlos Danger. That
leaves # YESSIR and Hoosier Daddy as your only winless teams.
September 16, 2014
It was a low scoring week as seven teams scored 70 points
or less. We had our first real nail biter as Westside Bounty Hunters defeated
CowHorn LongBoys by a single point (64 to 63). Deserved to be a tie. Flying Elvi
took high team honors scoring 130 points. Obama Been Fondlin took high position
honors scoring 40 points with the RB tandem of Darren Sproles (30) and Marshawn
Lynch (10). Each division has two undefeated teams and two winless teams.
September 9, 2014
The weekend started off really bad with the Longhorns and
Cowboys but it got a lot better with fantasy football. After getting shut out of
the weekly prizes last year, 308 took both the high team (152 points) and the
high position honors (51 points from QB Matthew Stafford (41) and K Steven
Hauschka (10)). Only two games were within 10 points with Bevo's Revenge and the
Penetrators eking out victories. New team, # YESSIR, lost their first game in
the league to Cleveland Steamers. Draft position didn't seem to matter much in
the first week. In the North, the teams that drafted first and last both won
while, in the South, those same teams both lost.
